The structure of 'Original report' --> research, technical note, empirical work.
- Title
- Normally less than 12 words
- Short & sharp phrase reflecting the content of the paper
- Abstract
- 100 - 200 words
- briefly present the topic with 1-2 lines of:
- Introductory statement
- Objectives
- Methodology
- Major results/findings
- Conclusions
- No need any citation
- Keywords
- usually 3-8 words for reference purposes to enable searches in database
- avoid abbreviations
- Introduction
- Normally 1 - 1.5 page
- Provide clear statement of the problem
- the relevant literature on the subject
- the proposed approach or solution
- this introductory text should be understandable to others from a broad range of scientific disciplines
- at least 20 reference (min 15) cited with most current literature of 1-3 years back
- may include research QUESTION/PROBLEM STATEMENT and justification of study
- OBJECTIVE must appear in the last paragraph
- Material and method
- no limited page nos.
- should be complete enough as it can be reproduced
- previous published procedure should be cited, any modification of published procedures should be mentioned
- described the measure used
- Results/Finding and discussion
- clarity and precise
- written in past tense
- explain and discuss the results
- better illustrated with charts/graphics/tables
- all illustration must be referred to as close as possible in text
- result should be explained, if possible without referring to the literature
- result may be compared and discussed with previous literature
- Conclusion (s)
- must fulfill the study objectives
- include the advantage of the study (a unique about it)
- include study practical implication that goes beyond the scope
- include recommendations for future works
- should not be more than 1/3 of a page (1 para should be good enough)
- Acknowledgements
- thank to whoever help you in your current study
- References
- ensure that every ref cited in the text is also present in the ref list
- unpublished results and personnel communication should not be in the ref list but should be mentioned in the text.
